Good video and some great memories. Was on the SSN695 from 91-95 and this boat was tied near us so I had some good friends on the boat and some great memories of WestPac. Thanks for posting it.

@madmedic92 just better control. Faster reaction time with planes at the ends of the ship. Many boats had their own unique design also. A way to keep trying out new thing to see what works the best. The Honolulu had and extra set of stern planes with the idea of preventing a jam dive or jam rise scenario. Our screws are housed now as a result of such test. Always ready and forever changing

Just out of curiosity why does the 688i and subsequent boats have their dive planes below the waterline, while most previous SSN classes had them on the sail?

WHO KNOWS? Periscope depth?? How many meters / feet? Class submarines for Los Angeles and Ohio or Virginia?

Great pics of the greatest fleet to have ever sailed.

I can't believe how well behaved the crew was for your pictures. My old Sturgeon boat photos can't be posted even on youtube. SSN-639 gone but never forgotten.
