http://www.pbs.org/independentlens/power-paths/ It's time to cut our dependence on fossil fuel and pursue renewable energy. But how can it be done? Native American tribes turn to solar and wind sources to provide clean sustainable energy for cities across the West. Their traditional values toward conservation and the earth offer real solutions to America's energy crisis.

In this clip, the Black Mesa and Kayenta mines became the largest coal strip-mining complex in the world.

POWER PATHS premieres Tuesday, November 3 on Independent Lens, a weekly series airing on PBS. Hosted by Maggie Gyllenhaal, the acclaimed series showcases powerful and innovative independent films. Presented by ITVS, Independent Lens is broadcast on PBS stations nationwide.

  • The last time I was at that powerplant is was closed. It caused smog to reach into Grand CanyonNati'l. Park. So, the story continues. When will we learn to harness the power of lightening as it could provide all the free... electricity we will ever need? Who doesn't believe that they (science) knows how this generation occurs & cannot tap into free energy because the patent's are bought out by competing interests? Tesla knew something Edison couldn't make money on...

  • Classic RAPE of the natural world! For shame! The White Man has been so bad for the Earth it truly boggles the mind if you start thinking about all that he's done to it. From PCBs in our water to mercury in our ocean's sealife to nuclear bombs exploded on it and its nuclear waste buried in it. If there is a god, he must be truly evil to allow this rape of Mother Earth go on unabated.
