ESL ALL-STARS vs. PERUGIA BASKET-- 100-79 - (23-29; 45-45; 71-55)

This is a basketball game video from the 2011 EUROPE SUMMER LEAGUE (ESL). This game features the ESL All-Stars (RED Jerseys) vs. the home team, PERUGIA BASKET (WHITE Jerseys) which is a professional team from Perugia, Italy that plays in the Italy A Dilettanti League.

This was the sixth and final game of the 2011 EUROPE SUMMER LEAGUE (ESL) for these players, who were assembled from all over the US.

Larry Daniels, a longtime veteran overseas player and coach had the Head Trainer and Head Coach responsibilities for the ESL All-Stars 12 day experience in Italy during July 2011 and little preparation time together was able to prepare the players for the games and to get them to come together and buy into the team concept which they implemented in the games of the 2011 EUROPE SUMMER LEAGUE. Adam Prossin was the Team General Manager and Assistant Coach for the 2011 EUROPE SUMMER LEAGUE experience.

This final game of the 2011 EUROPE SUMMER LEAGUE definitely lived up to the hype. The top local team, PERUGIA BASKET, of the Italy A Dilettanti League brought in some reinforcement players from a few of the other area pro teams in an attempt to be the first Italy pro team in 6 attempts to knock off the ESL All-Stars who were riding a high after playing earlier that day and securing their largest margin of victory of the 2011 EUROPE SUMMER LEAGUE against SPOLETO BASKET and extending their victory streak to 5 games with a 5-0 record vs. the Italy Pro teams.

The ESL All-Stars toughest game was saved for last. The team played this final 2011 EUROPE SUMMER LEAGUE game with only 8 players as one player had to catch an early flight home. The PERUGIA BASKET team came out strong in the first quarter and jumped out to a 29-23 lead at the end of the quarter playing a very organized game and making the ESL All-Stars pay for their mistakes in leaving the excellent Italian shooters open.

The flow of the game slowly began to change in the 2nd quarter however as the ESL All-Stars started to take back control and to play a more organized team game in this quarter while defensively playing much tougher and holding PERUGIA BASKET to only 16 points in the quarter. The half ended with a tie score of 45-45.

At halftime Coach Larry Daniels really settled the short manned team down and the ESL All-Stars responded with a tremendous 3rd quarter and clamped down hard on defense while holding PERUGIA BASKET to only 10 points in the 3rd quarter to end the quarter with a 75-51 lead after outscoring their opponent 26-10 in that quarter.

The tide continued to flow in favor of the ESL All-Stars in the 4th quarter as they continued to extend their lead in playing an organized team game while winning the quarter 29-24 even while being undermanned with their 8 man lineup playing about 25 minutes each and after having played a full game earlier in Spoleto which was over an hour drive out of town each way.

The ESL All-Stars secured the 100-79 victory and an undefeated 6-0 record for the 2011 EUROPE SUMMER LEAGUE. The ESL All-Stars should be proud of their showing not only in this game but throughout their 12 day experience in Italy.
