But even if you sold video footage, it's just stupid not to allow THAT. They're not losing any money off of it.
That is a secret! Sometimes you just get lucky. Go to the concert 1 hour before the show, ask for a single ticket up front! or just as the show starts and sometimes front row tickets are there. or really great seats. I think it's that certain scalpers turn them in once they can't sell them... just a guess.
I got up front for Eric Clapton last year the same way.

I don't see why people care about cameras at concerts anyway. Flash photography I can understand, but video cameras?

Obviously their fear is that somebody will sell the images and they think they deserve the money. Shooting images should be our right, free country and all. I bought the camera, I should be allowed to use it wherever I want. Selling them is the crime.
The small cameras, although the resolution is high enough still usually won't produce a perfect image that would be sell-able.

The story goes like this. I called Ticketmaster the day of the show and got front row. As usual I smuggled the camera in but I was in front of this yellow shirt security guy. As time went on and others brought their cameras out, I finally started recording security didn't seem to care....just as Brian came up and shook my hand. Yea, was cool...
