@anillpillai - it's a microphone called Countryman E6. The goal of using it is twofolds. Unlike a regular mic, it is very minimalist and does not create visual obstruction. It is also very good in picking subtle details of sound such as microtones and volume variations.

The bansuri: paradoxically both one of the most simple instruments in the world and one of the hardest to play well. The music in this video is ethereal and other-worldly - not to mention stupendously beautiful. Than you for the upload.
