Classroom education is local and isolated, but can be enhanced and augmented through a free web platform where students form global groups to solve problems in the classroom and the real-world: gaining new insights, knowledge and tolerance for other cultures.
To enable global cross-cultural education, we need to develop a (or use an existing) web platform that hosts applications created by anyone. These educational applications should foster educational interactions between two or more students/groups. Groups can be formed between students in various countries, therefore giving them the opportunity to work on problems using Internet tools also hosted on the platform (IM, wiki, forums, collaborative document editors etc). These interactions aren't limited to students: teachers can start sharing ideas and collaborate on best practices.
