ATI HD 4870X2 - Engineering Sample

Infos:

Thats a little preview of the upcoming HD 4870X2 by AMD / ATI.

Its a dual card, very simiular to the 3870 X2.
But this time it will feature:

Dual GPUs - 2x RV770XT

PCIe 2.0 interface. (It will work on a PCIe x16 slot)

Uses a 55nm manufacturing process

800 Shader Units / Stream Processors per GPU. (1600 in total)

New memory controller

2GB GDDR5 memory (1024MB per GPU to be accurate)

HDMI 7.5-sound

The memory on this card is Hynix H5GQ1H24MJR T0C.

The two GPUs communicate via a PLX chip. The model number is PEX86BB-AA50BC and it is better than the one on the HD3870X2 as this one supports PCI Express 2.0 which means improved data throughput.

After all its a very impressiv card that is able to defeat the GTX 280.
Keep in mind this is just a engineering sample with beta drivers.
Therefor the performance will probably end up even a bit better than on the screenshot...

@Sieberliebangbang 2 x 4870x2 require 850w power supply, it will consume a lot of power tho, get a 5970 or better nvidia gtx580

I have 2 x ati radeon 4870. but i want 2 x ati radeon 4870x2. I have 750 watts of power. Can is just remove the 4870 and replace it with 4870x2 Or do i need some extra things in order to install it properly? HELP PLEASE :(
