In the North Atlantic the ecological niche is filled by the Slamon shark's very close relative, the Porbeagle shark. It's identical to the salmon shark in terms of size, diet etc. They are known to approach rig divers, and there was a clip of one attacking a boat off the coast of scotland on youtube, although it was thought to be pupping. They reach about 10ft - they could give you a nasty bite for sure!
