Read about SSG Darrell Griffin, Jr. in "Last Journey" (www.lastjourney.net) This was one of the last videos SSG Darrell Griffin, Jr. made. Many soldiers keep journals, make video on their laptops, snap photos to deal with the hardships of battle. SSG Griffin, Jr., my son was killed just outside of Baghdad on March 21, 2007, one week after his 36th birthday. I went to Iraq and embedded with his combat unit in Baghdad a few months after he was killed to finish research so I could finish a book we were working on. "Last Journey" is available on Amazon.com and will be in bookstores June 29, 2009. (see www.lastjourney.net)
Sir, my name is SSG. Stocker and I was Darrell's squad leader for a short period of time at Ft. Lewis while in the recon platoon. Just thought that I would add that Darrell was a great guy that was always willing to help and go the extra mile to make sure things got done the right way. I actually met up with him as he was leaving Mosul his first deployment as I was arriving for the first time. I feel so lucky for getting the chance to see him 1 last time. Best wishes to you and Diana.
