Canada still exports asbestos to poor countries as India. The Canadians think it's ok to kill poor people while within Canada it's not legal to use. Greedy killer hippocrites is what they are.

Look. Asbestos didn't ask to be extracted. It was minding its own business for centuries until man mined it. Then what? Asbestos did its best to make our houses safe from fire, our floors and walls beautiful and our industrial systems economical to run. Now everyone sh*ts on asbestos. How do think that makes asbestos feel? You should all be ashamed of yourselves.

Asbestos in a contained form like this is fairly safe so long as it's left undisturbed.
The problem was during installation and more so during removal during remodels which generated asbestos dust.
It has to get into your lungs to cause mesothelioma.
A lot of carpenters got sick from working with it.
