  • OP could have copied and improved upon the style of every piano player before him, and during his career, including I suppose even Chopin, Beetgarden, etc; and had he wanted a drudgery at the office every day rather than the happy life his face shows on the album cover, he might have exceeded the heights of Bach. Glad he chose like he did.

  • @pvelectric Beetgarden LOL!

  • @BuckshotLaFunke1 ran into the house last thursday, KPFK radio, 'The Global Village," to crank up the hi-fi 'cause the radio was playing some piano solo of an old ballad standard, and i was saying to myself, geesus h. christe that guy sounds better than either Peterson or Tristano! nope, it was Peterson, the dj said matter of factually. Check it out in their archives if you've a mind.

  • I need the originary score, the STANDARD!! because is very difficult find it on web!!

  • My second modern jazz long playing album in the sixties; Peterson's own favourite.

  • When he goes up a half step shortly after the bass solo... it just gets downright sick. I have listened to this performance dozens of times and it just does not get old. O.P. was one of the baddest ever to live. He trickles like a waterfall, carves his lines with impeccable accuracy and is one of the reasons I have made jazz a lifelong pursuit of study. We have great modern piano players but without players like Art Tatum and O.P. they would not exist.

  • Ray is the perfect complement to Oscar, maybe because they both are in the same status as geniuses in their respective instruments. And Ed is the perfect drummer; there are only a few drummers who really know how to use the for make music and not noise.

The best trio in history, along with the other Oscar's trios and others like Benny Goodman's.
