Cute Japanese Girls Sing Mito Komon TV Theme Song at Karaoke

Mito Komon is a popular long running TV series about the fictional adventures of Tokugawa Mitsukuni, a retired lord of the Mito domain and former Vice-Shogun in the late 17th Century. In the show, Mitsukuni would travel around Japan incognito as a retired merchant with a few retainers. He would go about ferreting out corrupt officials, gangsters, and power-abusing leaders.

At the end of any given episode he would reveal his true identity with an inro (traditional small carrying case) that had the Tokugawa crest on it. The bad guys would immediately grovel before the second most powerful man in all of Japan while Mitsukuni passed judgement on them.

I was at Karaoke on Bunka-no-hi (Japanese Culture Day) so the girls I was with decided to sing this old theme song to the show. Mito Komon may not be historically accurate but it does represent Japanese cultural values plus it's just good ole fashion simple yet fun TV programming.
