Mortal Kombat (2011) Achievement Walkthrough - Hide and Seek - Secret Smoke Fight

This is a video walkthrough detailing how to fight classic Smoke in Mortal Kombat.

To fight Smoke, you must play through the ladder mode until you fight an enemy on the Living Forest stage. When the fight begins, jump over to the right part of the stage and be on the look out for Smoke popping out from behind the tree. If you see him, immediately start holding down and mashing select (or the back button on the 360)

If he doesn't show up within the first 10 or 15 seconds, try again.

If you succeed, the enemy you're fighting will blow up and you'll immediately go into a battle against Smoke.

every time i try to do this nothing happens! smoke does not come out behind the tree for me. and yes im at the right tree and everything. do i have to play as a specific character?
