Suzie Rowles * 1997 TMA Awards

The Traditional Music Association was started by Grand Ole Opry star, Oscar Sullivan, of the famed Lonzo & Oscar duo. I was a TMA member, and I finally got to meet Oscar at this gathering and Oscar signed one of my Lonzo & Oscar LP albums that I had bought back in the 1970s.

I met Suzie Rowles through my Top-Rail Chatter Country Music magazine. We wrote and phoned each other for a couple of years and I finally got a break in my heavy trucking schedule to finally meet her in person. Wow! What a dynamic person! Suzie is as passionate and sincere about her music and the preservation of tradition American music as you can get. A brilliant performer and organizer, her shows are always packed. This year she was chosen to host the annual TMA awards at her theater in Orrstown, Pa. Myself and my magazine were nominted two years in a row. Just being part of a gathering like this is priceless!
