The early 21st century has continued to see secularism and atheism promoted in the Western world, with the general consensus being that the number of people not affiliated with any particular religion has increased.

This has been assisted by non-profit organizations such as the Freedom From Religion Foundation which promotes the separation of church and state, and the Brights movement which aims to promote public understanding and acknowledgment of the naturalistic worldview.

In addition, a large number of accessible antitheist and secularist pieces of literature, many of which have become bestsellers, were published by authors such as Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens, Sam Harris, Daniel Dennett.

This gave rise to the "new atheism" movement, a neologism that has been used, sometimes pejoratively, to label outspoken critics of theism.

You are either ignorant or insane if you don't believe in evolution. Most in the USA are ignorant, WILLFULLY ignorant, of the facts pertaining to evolution. A minority are classically insane, thinking to understand evolution is to condemn yourself to an eternity in hell-fire. They are in the mildest terms, dillusional beyond comprehension. Sad, so very sad.

Salomon hat den Rechtsstreit gegen Bischof Müller gewonnen, der über Dawkins und Salomon als Vertreter eines agressiven Atheismus herzieht. Er hat in einer Predigt behauptet die beiden würden Kindermord gutheißen. Ich fand es lustig und interessant die Details des Rechtsstreit zu lesen:
