The MB2 500 weighs 3lbs. 12 oz., takes up less than one rack space, and delivers 500 watts of power. It features GK's four-band active EQ and contour control and allows you to tweak your tone before hitting the digital power section. In addition to the tone shaping capabilities, the preamp section also features a foot switchable boost channel with independent volume control to dial in the right amount of grind and level boost when needed.

The difference between the MB2 500 and the MB 500 is more reliability. The MB2 500 had design issues and went through a few revisions after customer returns. Mine is Revision A07. You can tell by the serial number after the A. GK decided after so many complaints and returns to start over, redesign, rebuild, and rename the amp as simply MB 500. It is a great amp and pack a serious punch for it's size.

I bougth this amp with the 2x12 cabinet, and what an amp! You can pull out the sickest and most biting slap sound, like seinfield and again - if you turn the horn off you can sound like both Justin chancelleor and wictor wooten! AMazing amplifier!

I own the MB2-500 and I LOVE IT! HUGE output, clean tone, all the features you need and ONLY THREE LBS!!!! The heck with Ampeg! I call mine "The Noisy Cricket".
