Julie Andrews sings this beautiful and touching song by Stephen Sondheim in a private concert she gave back in 1992, called " One on One".
Ian Fraser is on the piano!

I own nothing, I make no money out of this, I simple want to share the love and beauty of Julie Andrews!

  • I love it how she totally transforms it into a happy, romantic love song, whereas Peters sings about despair and goes totally insane.

  • @kopjetheemethoning That's also one of my favourite things about Julie's version! Thanks for leaving a comment!

  • i think she's actually the most incredible human being ever born

  • I remember seeing Julie Andrews in The Boyfriend. She upset Broadway in a big way. I had ever seen such charm, and beauty, and wonderful singing and acting; in a show designed as a pastiche. Then, sorry, but I think I am the only one on earth who missed her in My Fair Lady. But then I loved her with Burton in Camelot. Saw that not Opening Night but the second night. Then of course, she took the world in The Sound of Music movie. The rest is history. And she only got better! So much love.

  • Beautiful made me cry as recently lost the love of my life to heart problems.

  • she is a vessell for a truth...may we all listen and never judge

  • omg she's amazing

  • Bernadette Peters husband had died. It tore her up.

  • JULIE ANDREWS! Though Julie Andrews is an incredible singer, who I love, there is one version of this song that I prefer!

It is by BERNADETTE PETERS and is a breathtaking performance. I refer my friends on YouTube to check out the BERNADETTE PETERS version! It is truly incomparable!!

  • @enolamsamoht Yes, there are two versions of the song. In Merrily We Roll Along, the show it's from, the song is sung twice. First we hear a woman singing it (sad version) to her husband on the day of their divorce. Later in the show, we see the same couple on the day they got engaged, and the man sings it (happy version) to her as his proposal. So what we heard earlier on was her reminding him what he had said when he proposed, only now it hurts.

  • THe inimitable Julie.. an original in all she does..

  • @LiyahLove827 Don't we all?

  • @catiaadao I completely agree, though I might be biased because I adore Julie Andrews!

  • @DanceInTheDark711 I'll have to agree on that! Bernadette always makes me want to cry as well, when singing this song, and Being Alive. What I like about this version is that, in my opinion, Julie decided to make it somehow a happy song, rather then a sad one... I always think, when Julie is singing, that it's about keeping remembering, and good memories...
