  • Did Shirtless ever contact you to say he finished or got home ok? Nice kid. He has a book in him ready to publish.

  • @borderraven No contact with Shirtless. It would be nice to hear about hikers' personal experiences on the Appalachian Trail, their individual expectations, say, versus their feeling upon finishing. I have seen a couple of finishers on youtube: "Bear Bag & Hover" and "Chris Miller Videos".

  • @whoinsamhill,

And if you have the time and the organizational skills to do so (and wish to do this), YOU yourself could keep all of these people in contact with each other in case you run into a number of people from any one specific state but for some reason they don't run into each other at all. You couls start a small club of AT'ers that could share their love of hiking with other people from the same state.

And all this because you asked for their E-mail address at the same time.

  • @nakedfaves Good point. If I make it to the AT this year I'll see how hikers respond to my asking for their email addresses.

  • Is it me or does this sound like the old guy from "Family Guy" that uses the walker and is always trying to talk to chris next door..... Same situation old guy talking to a young man.. Not trying to be mean but sure sounds like the real version of family guy comedy..

  • Is there any news on whether or not Shirtless finished his thru-hike? I was a NOBO that met him at one of the huts in New Hampshire along the way. My trail name was Tiger.

  • @nakedfaves ive been wondering the same thing??? if thru hikers are walking for five months im guessing they dont have jobs, or bills?? thru hiking the AT just seems to me more like being a vagrant lol

Also i dont know anything about hiking the AT, but buying food and gear along the way, and staying in hostels and shelters just seems like "cheating"

  • @whoinsamhill,

I want to ask another question to anybody that can answer this one as well.

How do through hikers people pay for all of the things that they need to buy WHILE they're on the trail.

Shirtless here mentions @ 1:44 "work for stay", but what if I want to try a thru hike someday and I can't find a "work for stay" host or hostess?

Would I need to bring hundreds of dollars in cash or what?

  • Mahoosuc Notch is the hardest miles on the trail. it is on the Maine and New Hampshire border.

  • yeah shirtless! you'll be done soon
