@scoeas1982 How did your PS3 get YLOD in the first place?
-
your 30 seconds time out to like 43 to 61 sconds per white pad looking thing. Hmmmm ... frying'em?

I reflowed mine and replaced the thermal. Only reflowed the gpu and cpu for 30sec on low. Anyway It starts up fine for 5mins then I get ylod and it turns off. However I can still turn it back on but it only lasts for a few mins.

@dofbeer Yo whats up. I did each corner of the GPU for 30-45 seconds. I didnt have to use any flux either. I also swapped out the power supply for an APS-231 model. I used arctic silver 5 thermal paste on the heatsinks. My PS3 now runs a helluva lot cooler and the fan always runs at a low speed. :)

So you do 3 passes on all chips?
That's a through process!!

@scoeas1982 Yeah I see ur point. I also meant to add that it's a really good idea to pit new thermal paste and swap the power supply out BEFORE someone gets the YLOD. And the fan swap is not really necessary just an option. I have two 60 GB PS3's and one had a 15 blade fan and the other a 19 blade.

how about a 80gb one that has the ps2 hardware backwards compatibility?
Hey dude just wanted to say your vids are awesome. I would also suggest swapping out the 15 blade fan with a 19 blade fan, if the PS3 originally came with the 15 blade fan. Also, the original power supply should be swapped out because it runs superhot and causes alot of overheating problems. I have 2 60 GIG's. I swapped out the power supplies in them for an APS-231 model, which is what comes in the 40 GB model. I've buying PS3's with YLOD and fixing them then selling them on Ebay :)

@korndogg2004 you can do that if you want the problem is not the fan or power supply its the led free solder think about this if all the 19 blades and aps 231 psu prevented it then they would not be a millioin of them for sale. No matter waht fan or what power supply its going to happen, but if it does happen you are correct best to switch it out but you dont absolutely have to
