Lyrics are below.

Jesus Christ Superstar.1973 movie.
Jesus Must Die.

Filmed primarily in Avdat, the Dead Sea and the Bell Caverns in Israel, Jesus Christ Superstar is a 1973, Oscar-nominated film adaptation of the rock opera of the same name, based on the conflict between Judas and Jesus in the last weeks before the crucifixion of Jesus. The film was directed by Norman Jewison. Ted Neeley and Carl Anderson were nominated for two 1974 Golden Globe Award for their portrayals of Jesus and Judas, respectively.

Though it attracted criticism from some religious groups, the film was generally well received.

Lyrics by Tim Rice - Music by Andrew Lloyd Webber

Priest:
Good Caiaphas
The council waits for you
The Pharisees and priests
Are here for you

Caiaphas
Ah gentlemen, you know why we are here
We've not much time, and quite a problem here

Crowd Outside
Hosanna! Superstar!

Annas
Listen to that howling mob
Of blockheads in the street
A trick or two with lepers
And the whole town's on its feet

All
He is dangerous! He is dangerous!

Crowd
Jesus Christ, Superstar
Tell us that you are who they say you are

Priests
That man is in town right now
To whip up some support
A rabble rousing mission
That I think we must abort
He is dangerous

Crowd
Jesus Christ, Superstar

Priests
He is dangerous

Look Caiaphas
They are right outside our yard
Quick Caiaphas
Go call the Roman guard

Caiaphas
No wait, we need a more permanent solution to our problem.

Annas
What then to do about Jesus of Nazareth?
Miracle wonderman, hero of fools

Priest
No riots, no Romans, no fighting, no slogans

Caiaphas
One thing to say for him, Jesus is cool

Annas
We dare not leave him to his own devices
His half-witted fans will get out of control

Priest
But how can we stop him, his glamour increases
By leaps every minute, he's top of the pole

Caiaphas
I see bad things arising
The crowd crown him King
Which the Romans would ban
I see blood and destruction
Our elimination because of one man
Blood and destruction
Because of one man

Because because because of one man...

Our elimination because of one man

Because because because of one cause of one - cause of one man

Voices
What then to do about this Jesusmania?
Now how do we deal with the carpenter king?
Where do we start with a man who is bigger
Than John was when John did his baptism thing?

Caiaphas
Fools! You have no perception
The stakes we are gambling
Are frighteningly high
We must crush him completely
So like John before him
This Jesus must die
For the sake of the nation
This Jesus must die

Must die, must die
This Jesus must die

So like John before him this Jesus must die

Must die, must die
This Jesus must - Jesus must - Jesus must die!

  • the lyrics to all the songs from jesus christ superstar are so clever

  • Hosanna superstar...

Listen to that mob of blockheads in the street!

  • @verkaforever The High priest and his cohorts along with the Pharisees and Sadducees were always looking for a way to deal with him. I love how Jesus poked fun of them and went as far as to call them hypocrites, "a brood of vipers" and "white washed tombs full of dead men's bones". They were full of spiritual pride and thought themselves better than the rest of the Israelites. I wonder what use they found for themselves after the destruction of the Temple and the fleeing from Jerusalem?

  • @verkaforever He was perceived by the privileged High Priest and cohorts as dangerous because he threatened their hypocritical rule. They rationalized that the Romans would ban Jesus' kingship thereby threatening the Israelites and their nation. Jesus was a threat to their life style and power so they were concerned about's his triumphant entry into Jerusalem. One week after he arrived, he was crucified because these powerful religious figures rallied the crowd to pressure Pilate to kill him.

  • And thus Caiaphas as High Priest that year was allowed the prophesy: For the sake of the nation this Jesus must die".

  • Church today...

  • Церковь сегодня...

  • How do we deal with the carpenter king?!
