@blutocampbell i think we can all agree that all the versions are a fuck load better than the saturdays

This version is awesome, and so is the Beatles' version.
It's pretty obvious that John was imitating this singer's style, in his version.
I'm going to go listen to the other two versions now! lol

@KingAssmar I couldn't agree more with you. This is what it's supposed to sound like, namely, a lovestruck teen age girl anxiously waiting for a letter from her boyfriend as if her life depends on it --- not a soulless rocker from a British group (Beatles) that knows nothing about this genre.

The Marvelettes version has to be the best. I'm pretty sure its the original version.
Please don't get mad at me if I'm wrong.

My pop-pop had my dad burn cds of his music for him then he'd listen to them on his new cd player and this song was one of my favorites. He made me learn it and I sang it for him right there in the middle of the living room. ^_^ I'd always get better at it every passing year. And he'd be so proud.

people who say very bad stuff about carpenters, have a bit of respect for Karen Carpenter who was one the most respected and loved woman singer of hollywood.

Some people prefer the pop version. Myself I prefer it with soul.
