ARKive 2010 Promo

Wildlife films and photos are vital weapons in the battle to save the world's endangered plants and animals from the brink of extinction. So, with the help of the worlds best filmmakers, photographers, conservationists and scientists, ARKive is creating the ultimate multimedia guide to the world's endangered species.

By revealing what these species look like, how they behave and what makes them special, we are aiming to shine the spotlight on the many thousands of endangered species, thereby raising their public profile and, ultimately, helping to ensure their conservation.

For 2010, the International Year of Biodiversity, we have set ourselves the task of tracking down imagery for 17,000 of the worlds most endangered species - endangered plants and animals that have two things in common. They are desperately in need of protection, and are a little camera shy. We know their names and where they live, but in many cases, we dont yet have a decent photo or video.

So, if you have imagery of an endangered species, we'd like to hear about it. Or please consider making a donation to the ARKive project, and don't forget to explore ARKive's many thousands of wildlife videos and photos, and tell everyone you know about ARKives search for the world's most endangered species.
