DSM-IV defines persistent and recurrent maladaptive gambling behavior as 5 or more: Preoccupation; Increasing money to gamble to achieve desired excitement; Repeated unsuccessful to control, cut back, or stop gambling; Restless or irritable when trying to cut down or stop gambling; Gambles to escape from problems or mood;After losing money gambling, often returns another day to get even ("chasing" after one's losses)
