  • how freakin loud is this in person?

all knobs on 10?? 100 watt marshall?

doesn't sound like bedroom is anywhere near the picture. seriously low levels sound totally clean or?

  • Really loud! Easily over 120dB.

It does loud, clean tones as well. It starts to break up (distort) at around 4 on the volume knob.

  • Am I correct in assuming that the 500v and 400v specs are for the output tube plate voltage?

  • That's right. But it works on all the tubes.

  • sounds perfect. I also like the skeletal look of the chassis sitting on that beat up old cabinet.

haha thousands of years from now, after nuclear fallout, some archaeologists will dig up an amp that looks exactly like this in some ancient ruins, and the Marshall legend will begin once again...

  • A Attenuature

It gives the the nice sound of a cranked marshall but turned down.

  • @rbehm14 It's still not turning this amp into a bedroom amp, unless you don't have neighbors or they don't care about volume.

Attenuators just allow you to get power tube distortion at stage volume levels.

  • Hey George... what speakers are you using here. and what year is the cab from?

Also... What tubes are you using in this amp and also what tubes are you using in the 50W 71 spec demo?

    Thanks!

  • Ok I just sold 2000 more.. Next time any of you cats are even lucky enough to find this spot. Like this tone . whether you dial it like this to EVH mode or not. Wouldnt you leave your REAL 68 12000 at home . BUY TWO OF THESE load it with some NOS tubes and your on tour ! Oh yeah. The best sounding replica of a 68 12000 ive ever heard. I want one so bad! wish i could afford it .

  • Sounds good but I think i like the 71spec Metro 50 watter without a Hotplate just a bit better, just a wee bit better!

  • @rbehm14 so does variac

    Hey George,

I have a marshall super lead replica. It's a home-made one (I only bought it, some local amp maker dude built it). I checked, and double checked EVERYTHING in it with my multimeter, and every little detail matches the original marshall super lead schematic.

But my amp already starts breaking up at around 2 on the volume (bright channel). When I'm on 4, it's already a heavy rythm tone.

Is this normal for a plexi? I'm using a 4.7n bright cap

  • Well, that's the tone, innit? Very, very nice. Now to hold up a liquor store or two to afford it. ;-)

  • thought your amps were overrated....well just played them a/b against true marshalls.....gotta give credit, metro amps just had that "it" factor that is the "british" sound.....probably the last amp i'll ever buy
