Why is everybody saying that mr crepsley died in book 8? I just finished reading book 8 and he didn't die!

@angelandbuffyxxx to me the most heart touching part is when he said that his heart leaped out of his mouth when he once again experiences Mr. Crepsley's aroma in the final book and has so many feelings to express to Mr. Crepsley as a little person. I wanted to cry that moment lol. :)
