http://www.http://thehatafoundation.org - Elizabeth (Liz) Hata - Watanabe and the Hata Foundation hosted an event to present a scholarship grant to a young student.

Elizabeth Hata-Watanabe
Founder
Granddaughter of the late Minoru & Shigeko Hata of Y.Hata & Co., Ltd.

Elizabeth Hata-WatanabeHaving children changed my life and gave me direction. It taught me to live a purpose driven life and it allowed me to expand a vision beyond myself. My family is my motivation and my faith is my inspiration. These blessings have moved me to dedicate my efforts to create social awareness and proactive support within our community.

I have had the honor and the pleasure to serve as a board of director for several organizations such as the Young Women's Christian Association, (YWCA) where I was able to support women's programs, issues and their challenges; the Manoa Valley Theater; the Hawaii Performing Arts Foundation and the Honolulu International Film Festival, (HIFF) where I was able to support the Arts within our community and beyond.

I founded the Women's and Children's Closets, both supporting organizations working toward the advancement of women and children. I intend to continue the vision of providing hope to our families and building a stronger community. And I am a proud member of "Mothers In Touch", (MIT) a mother's national prayer group seeking the betterment of education for our children and families.

It was an honor to be a selected in the Pacific Business News 2006 class of Forty under Forty which recognized 40 outstanding community leaders under the age of 40 and PBN's 2008's top 20 Women Business Leaders.

I was humbled to be selected as one of the Honolulu Star Bulletin's 2006's top 12 community leaders and the Honolulu Advertiser's 2008 Mother of the Year. In 2009 IN Magazine featured me as one of Honolulu's Real Housewives and it has been a pleasure to participate and support over 30 local charities and organizations.

I believe our voices were meant to be heard. I believe we all have the capacity and capability to make a difference.
