T. Stewart does not have this god-like voice, nor does Hotter. This is the best of all Wotans. His vocal potency is phenomenal. Also he was a superb actor. The Willie Mays of bass-baritones, ha ha ha. Yes, he was an African-American. I hope that doesn't diminish in any one's eyes his amazing achievements. I doubt that it would given the general level of commentary here.

Erich Leinsdorf not run, all, and each note at the right time. Others directors rides the Vallküre in all movements. Are they in a hurry???

@Vandeputte100 Yet again the idiotic mud slinging when you disagree with someone. Grow up Vandeputte for God's sake. I do happen to know quite a lot about singing actually as a professional singer who has tread the boards as a baritone on more than a few occassions, I presume you're one of these prissy old queens who hates your favourite divas being knocked, well get over it love, as long as there are different singers appealing to different ears then you will always get comparisons.

The recording seems to try to reproduce the acoustic relations between singer and orchestra like on stage. Not like recordings today, where the singer is amplified a lot. Wonderful Wotan!

Rattywotin - I find your comment on Hotter unacceptable. Hotter came in and saved the day when London was unable to do it. London was great, but Hotter sang Wotan for over three decades and was great also
