I just ordered a Swiss Ranger Volcano Stove, at ~$11 (US) from Cheaper Than Dirt ... On that same "cheaperthandirt" product listing, they provide a link to a knock-off version of a Mazpedition (MOLLE) large water-bottle carrier for only ~$20 ... Should be here, any day ... I also have a small alchohol burner which can be used with my Esbit Stove Set or the Swiss Ranger ...
... Your adaptation reminds me very much of the Swiss Ranger ... I'm too lazy to fabricate whith this kit so "cheap".

and how did you make the mug? it has to be of a precise diameter to fit the inside container of the "previously called" thermos...

Okay so the solution is clear, if you placed the water portion in the bottom, water being very conductive of heat would draw the heat like a double boiler and in effect stabilize hose hot the TOP portion got before heavier/meatier foods in the top could burn or overcook. Everything could be ready at the same time. You could have an even WIDER outer water pot around the base of the stove itself when in storage but used to heat water to a warm level to wash up everything afterwards.
