a popular blues folk song based on the murder of William "Billy" Lyons by Stagger Lee Shelton. The version recorded by Mississippi John Hurt in 1928 is considered by some commentators to be definitive, containing as it does all of the elements that appear in other versions.

good lesson. one suggestion though. play the song all the way through and THEN break it down into the various sections. I find this fault with many other instructional videos on youtube.

Kevin, you are doing great job, maybe some day you can transpose what John W. Windham was doing. I was able to get him on the video one evening a few months before he died. He was saying "music has to come from the heart".
John was known as "Blues", "Bluesman", "Shane". He was robbed and killed in West Oakland on June 27 2007. His niece Gina died the very next day from deep distress when she learned about John's death. Her voice is in the background of this video. Both were great people.
