A stunning, moving and sincere performance. The suggestion that Thatcher be given a state funeral is ironic given that she was so determined to dismantle so many aspects of `the state`, especially those intended to protect the poor and the powerless from exploitation. Surely, following her doctrine, her funeral should be put out to public tender with the lowest bidder getting the job.

@italiamia1000 Every capitalist country has a fair whack of state intervention (e.g. keep the population educated & fit for work) & market control (complete free market results in monopolies). The communist state may have been terrible under Stalin, but the collective decision to move to communism was after the experience Russian had under the Tsar. Same in France (e.g."Let them eat cake"). Last sentence is laughable (read Whoops by John Lanchester). You've been educated to love money, not life.

@realot1 Free market Capitalism is the only economic philosophy that has lifted ordinary people out of poverty. There is no morality nor ethics in socialism or socialist policy. Goverment central planning is the most destructive threat to individual freedom that we face today. Is there not enough evidence of that in this world right now? Europe is about to collapse because government, not because of greedy Capitalists.

We now live in a greed fueled society where the rich are applauded and the poor are ignored. The 1970s were troubled times but unemployment was higher under thatcher and the gap between the rich and poor dramatically widened. You may talk about the economy to measure success I prefer to use our morality and ethics which were lost in 1979

Obviously, this is a great song and the writing is superb. But it is as a result of virulent hatred of Thatcher which so defines the left. The comments here are not congent or intelligent. No leader can be admired by everyone and no leader is perfect. I suggest that some of you do a little research on Britain in the 1970's before the Conservatives won in 1979. Is anyone here willing to go back to those days.

There's no way that fucking whore will be given a state funeral. I for one, amongst many MANY others, will happily lie in front of the hearse to disrupt her final burial. I used to want her to die quickly and soon, now I want to enjoy the knowledge she is senile and has lost not only her scum sucking husband but also her fucking mind. Rest is pain bitch.
