This film is a masterpiece of "commedia all'italiana" (comedy the Italian way), but I prevent foreigners: Italian taste for comedy is strongly for grotesque, burlesque, absurd, even violent, and VERY politically incorrect!
Filmmakers such as Germi used comedy for political fights, for ex this one aims at ridiculising the Sicilian custom of "honour kidnapping" in order to change the Italian law about marriage.
As a child I was traumatised by this film, today I think Pietro Germi is a genius.

Ma infatti non ho detto che sedotta e abbandonata non sia bello, anzi, ma che preferisco divorzio all'italiana :) comunque questa realtà dell' "onore e rispetto" è ormai passata ...o no?
