This film is a masterpiece of "commedia all'italiana" (comedy the Italian way), but I prevent foreigners: Italian taste for comedy is strongly for grotesque, burlesque, absurd, even violent, and VERY politically incorrect!

Filmmakers such as Germi used comedy for political fights, for ex this one aims at ridiculising the Sicilian custom of "honour kidnapping" in order to change the Italian law about marriage.

As a child I was traumatised by this film, today I think Pietro Germi is a genius.

This was an over the top comedy all'Italiano by the master Gemri. (Divorce Italian Style).

Essentially a 'monster' movie comedy - 'monster' because of the amazing character faces. It's really about the change in Italy from a rural county to an industrialized one - and the old social / political issues / laws that subjugated women & protected men. Back then a man could sue a woman for tarnishing his name if it got out that she had seduced him ( when it was the 'horny as monkeys' Italian male ).

let me tell you, i watch thjis movie once i think my god how terrible to treat a poor girl like that!

In primo luogo penso che questo film sia terribile, alle donne.

then i watch again and again, this movie is a brillaint commentary to ridicule how women were mistreated it is genius it is, the director is genius i misunderstood,

please those who read this be careful do not judge this movie in a rash way..
