It's not canned, it was filmed in front of a live studio audience when it was recorded, and therefore, you hear people laughing.

In my honest opinion, I think it adds something to it. The thing about laugh tracks now(Mostly in Sit Coms like Big Bang Theory) is that they have a sign in front of the live audience, which says "Laugh now" after almost every sentence, which can completely ruin some jokes.
