Bob Vander Plaats is a Bigot

@Mattvr35 How is me calling him a bigot and saying that he's spewing hatred taking away any of his rights? He can call what he's doing "Christian love" all he wants, but he's taking away the rights of others. Also, this is just the very end of his talk-- I sat there for an hour while he said much worse things about the LGBT community, atheists, single parents, etc.

@Mattvr35 Also: I think calling someone a "bad parent" and a "Sodomite" for being homosexual (an inborn trait) is much worse than calling someone who willingly chooses to treat other people as lesser human beings and to attempt to take away their rights a bigot.

Everybody who laughed when she said that the Founders were Deists and Atheists only proved how little they know about the history of their own country. They've been spoon-fed Right-wing hstorical revisionism. Of course, some of the Founders were Christian, but not all of them. Most of the people there, if they heard the religious opinions of many of the Founders w/o hearing their names, would definitely say they were not Christian, just like they say gay-affirming churches are not Christian.

This looks really good, but I can't understand what people are saying (I clicked the closed capton button, and nothing happened). Is there any way to put sub-titles on this video?
My comment from what I did hear is that Vander Plaats doesn't have the slightest idea what the First Amendment of the Constiution means. He was leading this like a prayer meeting instead of a public political discussion. He's a moron.

It's disturbing that I am associated with these "gay rights" morons just because I happen to be gay. Marriage is a social institution that has historically (not religiously) been between one man and one woman. Saying you have a "right" to same sex marriage is beyond moronic. It's like saying that a white person has a right to be black, it's insane because you're changing the definition of words just to suit your own pervasive liberal ideology.
Also "the founders weren't Christians" whatever!

This guy is very misguided when it comes to the common good of the people. I have spoken to him in person and things like affordable health care, lower taxes and basic personal rights mean nothing to him. He has a one track mind when it comes to marginalizing gays along with a sour grapes attitude of losing the governor's race. His influence in Iowa is unjust and not for the people.
-
@SkaraMog Actually that statement that it's "legal" is technically incorrect. There is no law saying "gay marriage is now legal in Iowa" It has simply been stated that there is nothing the state can do to stop gays from getting married if they want to. Just thought I'd point that out.

Simply put, Bob wants to live in a theocracy. He'd probably be better off living in a place like Iran.
That lady picked the wrong town to protest in! I love how Bob Vander Plaats handles the situation. He is very good on the spot.

@Projects4HighSchool Except he literally made no sense.
Oh, and also, it's legal in Iowa for same sex couples to get married. So "that lady" (me) won.

How comes he quotes article 12 of the Constitution when there are only seven articles in the Constitution? Maybe I'm missing something here.

@ShadeCanopy It's probably because he's an idiot and has literally no understanding of the law or Constitution.
