I konw this is an old video, but anyway you may not realize Japan is relayed via Canada I think.
By the way I recently got an Echophone at an estate sale for $6. IT works but it probably needs a new filter capacitor and may have other ways that it can be improved.

I just bought a very similar model ec1 (the dial is not split like this one) yesterday on ebay for $20. Anxious to see what I got. The ac cord was so bad they didn't dare plug it in. Could be great, could be worthless. Great to find this video. Thanks!!
