The "one plane swing" is the inevitable consequence of swinging the club back.

What's TA III do for a living? In 4 PGA events this year, he didn't make enough to cover his bar tab for a night.

Yes the may like a simlarish top of the backswing position......but that doesnt mean that S&T is a one plane swing. I understand what you are trying to say, I may be pedantic, but I dont agree with what you are saying.

For a start, the defintion of one plane is wrong. It is almost impossible to have a 'one plane swing', as all swings have plane shifts. That doesn't mean that you can't get a position at the top of the swing with your left arm across the shoulder plane. I just dont agree with lumping everyone with a left arm across the shoulder plane in the one plane swing camp. Jim Hardy wants a different backswing, downswing and follow through to S&T.

How can the S&T be a one plane swing if they teach different principles? S&T wants a completely different backswing in order to get to the position of having a left arm across the shoulder plane. The right elbow flexing, tilts, wirst cock, path are different. How can S&T be a one plane swing then? S&T wants a more linear downswing with the hips. One plane swing wants a more rotary move with the hips, as a result it has more of a fade and a lower trajectory bias.

All swings are either one plane or two plane. You see, a swing plane can be created by swinging the club around the torso, as I said before, or it can be a blend of a flat shoulder turn and a steep arm swing. As long as this game is played from the side of the ball, there are no exceptions.

You're definition of one plane might be too narrow. I know that they S&T is not exactly the same move as Jim Hardy's method. One plane means the the arms are swung around the torso working on the same plane as the shoulders. Linear downswing? There is no such thing. All successful golf swings swing on an arc. Frankly, I think both Jim Hardy and the S&T guys try to accomplish almost the same thing just with different language and feels.
