Riding the elevators in the Michigan Historical Museum, in downtown Lansing, MI. (Both the museum and the Library of Michigan are housed in the same building.) Only floors 1, 2, and 3 are accessible from these ones; floor 5 is closed off. Sorry about the continuous and annoying ringing/beeping sound inside the elevator; I had no control over that.

TECHNICAL SPECS:
Make: Otis
Type: Hydraulic
Capacity: 2100 Lbs.
Number of Floors: 5 (4 Serviced, 1 "Skipped")
Year Installed: 1989

  • Interesting how there are two sets of call buttons on one hall station, but at least this elevator goes faster. Also, were the up lantern arrows white or green?

  • @CaptainElevator42189 The up lanterns were green.

  • Is 4 a service floor (skipped) or this building actually skips floor 4 (superstition)?

  • @elevatorgeek762 I think there is a fourth floor on this side of the building, but access is restricted.

  • @elevatorgeek762 4 is only a superstition in China. Here it's 13.

  • Wow, that's amazing, and I think all elevator direction lanterns should used green for up, red for down, just like a traffic signal, but it also can identify up from down easily.

  • Haha...The elevator looks historical! LOL
