Please... I don't think they would've had Brenda become a bitch if she would've stayed on the show! With Brenda gone the writers saw it as an opportunity to spice up the series from it's "dealing with teen angst" to "almost full blown soap opera"! The show had to revamp itself a little, because at the time it's spinoff Melrose Place was getting higher ratings than its parent show!

Really...because Shannen was initially going to be gone for season 5 and return and they were going write Valerie off the show. Trust me, Val who Brenda was supposed to become. But Shannen was such a drama queen, Ironically she left BH at season4 and Charmed at season 3, which was half plus one that the shows continued. Brenda was going to cause a lot of drama, but shannen was being annoying.

It is a fact, they had all these storylines set up for Brenda. Shannen was willing to continue with the show, but Aaron and the producers felt it was best for everyone if she just left. They were planning on casting another actress to play the character, but felt it was just best to create another role and put in the storylines that was initially planned for Brenda. Glad Doherty wasn't replaced because she wouldnt have done the spinoff.
