Basic penetration and expansion test of a variation of the current FBI and Federal agency load for 9mm, using wet newspaper jugs with denim. Video includes overview, Winchester ballistics, chronograph readings, bullet review, and evaluation.

I was curious to learn how well this backyard test compared with the official FBI ballistic gel with denim test.

*** UPDATE *** 10-28-09: I'm getting feedback that this is the 2nd generation bullet for this load, and that the FBI is using a 3rd generation bullet. Once this is fully confirmed, I will add a suitable annotation to the video.

  • Can this ammo be purchased anywhere or is this for only for the 'loving government agencies' to have?

  • @ Starstreak817

I have never seen it in a gun shop, but the local gun shows usually produce a few boxes of "'LEO" ammo. They are usually the first to go, and at top dollar. That has been the source of what I have purchased in the past.

  • You think you could do a test on winchester surpreme elite 9mm hollow points? Their nickel plated and bonded +p 147 gr rounds.

  • @jayrod58

Sure, they may already be on a growing list.

  • Looks like you have found a suitable, cheaper analog for gelatin. Have you ever made ballistics gelatin before?

  • I have never tried to make ballistic gel. The process is easy enough, but I don't have the space for cold storage.

Please share your concept of hollowpoints vs. FMJ's with the ammo manufacturers, or even law enforcement! I would be anxious to hear their response! The amount of blood and guts on the floor or wall from a violent criminal is the absolute least of my concerns.

  • @eLpeach pipe down troll, it's absolutely obvious to everyone here you have no idea what you're talking about.

If you really have been to Iraq(which I DOUBT) that's irrelevant to whether you know what you're talking about as far as ballistics are concerned or not, and clearly you have no idea what you're talking about in that regard.

Honestly, quit making a fool of yourself

Bro ur ammo tests really are some good shit, it's plain stupid that you still get internet know-it all's coming of tests that you've done saying they're useless and have no real world value. Really? Knowing that a federal hst 9mm will penetrate roughly 13 inches of tissue unless it hits bone isn't helpful? Morons.

  • @Starstreak817 Midway USA has it on sale right now for 26.99 for a box of 50 until the end of July or until supplies last.

  • Bonded rounds are crap,if you are looking for deeper penetration, just us a FMJ.And using denim is retarded..its only a good test if you're plaining on shooting someone in the leg! The use of ONE sheet of cotton on both sides of the target is good, that reps a T-shirt,and that is wear you wanna shoot someone,is in the torso.

  • tnoutdoors; I think you have the best and most useful test's on the web concerning ammo comparisons. Who knows you just may be saving peoples lives.

  • This shooter has trouble shooting the center of his targets,in his videos they are all low or way off to the sides...i personal would feel safe being shot by this guy cause i know i'd survive,Lmao!

  • @pjicleanair420 Ranger Ts are a lot cheaper, though- you just can't get 'em at Wallyworld.
