And the rear platform and staircase has been moved to the drivers side.

@retroolschool That is so true. The newer buses have no character whatsoever compared to the older ones!

Im afraid that it is not the start up of an original engine - this is an ex Stagecoach East London bus and so has had the original AEC unit removed, was fitted with a Cummins unit in 1991 and then has had that replaced with a Scania engine. This particular bus in its later years worked from Upton Park Garage on route 15 (Paddington to Canning Town/Blackwall) and then Bow Garage for route 8 (Victoria Station to Bow).

The Iconic Red London Routemaster Bus... They were designed for London & were used primarily there for 60 years along with the AEC Regent III and the RTL's & RTW's... They stopped using the Routemaster in officially in 2005 here in favour of the new modern plastic peasant things which have no soul or character (or good looks) but they are still popular at rallies and other enthusiast gatherings thankfully along with many other classic buses, Thank you for sharing

Thanks for the history my good man! Similar result here in North America. Current buses cannot match the style, and smmoth ride of older buses.
