The SD card is for more picture and video, That's all because the internal memory is little, The picture cuality is from the camera  and the cualitily of this.

I just received this new camera and took pictures they came out awful looking like 2 megapixels. I was using built in memory card ( I thought the SD card will come inside the box but it didn't). So do I need the SD card for the camera to take High Quality pictures?

also, the camera can record video in wvga, 848x480, not just vga. get your facts straight, computertv!

just to let you know, this camera has panasonic's MEGA O.I.Ss, which is OPTICAL image stabilization, NOT digital image stabilization. of course this is a good thing, because digital image stabilation can cause noise.
