Written by Don Rollins, "The Other Woman" was a #2 hit for Ray Price in 1965. Don Rollins' original demo was released on Bear Family records box set Phoenix Panorama in 1995.
But who is Dave Musgrave? Was this version ever released?

  • I received info second-hand from Dave Musgrave that this was recorded in the early 60s in Phoenix, but Dave is not the steel player on this recording. The steel is done by Zane Beck, another fine player.

Don Rollins wrote this song and recorded it in Arizona, also in the early 60s. Ray Price later picked it up and made one of his best ever recordings on this great song.

Thanks for additional info. So, that's Dave singing, right?

  • I'm one of Daves son's Scott Musgrave. He is alive and well living in Springfield, MO. Still playing.

  • Dave Musgrave is indeed still around and playing steel as great as ever. He plays in our morning show in Branson, MO. "Swingin' Cajun Style". We all have a great time there and enjoy our time with Dave.

  • Excuse me. That's Zane Beck on steel, not Zane King (another fine steeler).

  • Starday:

Yes, Dave Musgrave on the vocal; Zane King on steel. It's the only Musgrave vocal I know of--maybe at the time he was eager to get on record any way he could. I assume he was perfectly capable of doing the steel part, but it isn't easy singing and playing steel simultaneously in a studio situation.

  • I certainly will.

    Thanks,

    Scott Musgrave

  • Dave is still around - I believe in Branson playing with the Sons of the Pioneers. I played drums with him and Dewayne Bowman in '08 at the Ft. Scott Jubilee. He is incredible, for sure!

  • He is still around. I played drums with him in 2005. We were working for DeWayne Bowman with Ernie Reed on fiddle. We are in the Joplin / Branson MO. area..
