I've only been back home to film trains twice, and that day was the only time I was filming around Blackey/Jeremiah area.

we use them as a shoving platform for several ofthe mines we go to. they have an ice box and a working kerosene stove. the toilet door is welded shut, if you have a man on the rear you don't need an eot at rear.

Thanks for the info. It's good to see them still being used. The EOT was just coming into use when I moved out of the mountains.

An interesting catch here! Do you know why CSX had a caboose on the rear of those Coal train?

For some reason they still stick them on the end of some of the trains in eastern Kentucky, but I don't know why. I don't live in the mountains anymore, I just happened to catch that one as I was visiting the area, but I've seen them on other trains when I've been back home.
