Performances like this haven't totally gone away. We all just crave the music of our own generation.

I tried listening to the cover version of James Vincent McMorrow (Irish folk singer), and I found it dull, lifeless, boring, and monotonous. Yeah sure, gotta respect the opinions of others, but how can one not like this ORIGINAL Steve Winwood version? The original is colorful, dynamic, and full of lively rhythmic sensation. The tune, the singing have such a TIMELESS qualities to it, great song from a wonderful era in music... the 80's!!!

Love Chaka Khan......................

This is a good Winwood track featuring Chaka. What is amazing to me is how well Chaka, one of the most powerful lead and improvizational vocalists ever, manages to stay in her secondary lead role and respect Steve's primary lead throughout this track. This is fairly easy for producers to control in a studio setting (check out the original version of this track), but much more difficult for a natural soloist to do live (check out any Patti LaBelle live collaboration). Go Steve!!! Go Chaka!!!

chaka's one of my favorite singers and winwood's one of my favorite everythings. have all his albums since spencer davis. they're all wonderful. always tried to catch winwood when he'd come to town with traffic, blind faith, clapton, and solo concerts. never dissappointed. always provided genius like uplifting, introspective music and many holy goodtimes. steve's music will live inside me long into and beyone my next few lives.

@Nacho66 I hear ya on that, Nacho. she's a great singer, but she her tonal style here just doesn't mesh with his. Great groups like The Band were amazing in that their vocals sounds just blended perfectly. Here is an example of where two people singing in tune just don't jibe.

oh i miss performers like these so so much today. the whole music industry is so seriously fucked up.
