Horse at cornell tredmil lab. BEFORE YOU COMMENT
Please read this from user at204

I am currently a veterinary student at Cornell University (and yes, Soliloguyofastar, Cornell is currently the #1 ranked vet school in the country, if not the world), and the treadmill seen in the video is used for diagnostic purposes. Often times problems in a horse's gait is not seen unless the horse is running at high
speeds, but just running a horse in a field has too many uncontrolled variables. For instance, you can't tell if a horse's improper positioned while running in is a result of an injured leg, or just because the ground is uneven.)

As such this machine is necessary so that the doctors can observe the horse in a controlled environment and perform a gait analysis, often times with the aid of a video recording device. The treadmill can also be used in diagnosing respiratory, cardiac, and several other diseases.

As such, this equine treadmill is a medical device that is used by licensed veterinarians that have had 8+ years of professional medical training (training that is often more rigorous than that of human doctors!), and is in no way cruel or abusive towards the animal.
WOW all the negative comments need to stop. Cornell is one of the best vet schools in the world. This horse is TRAINED to run on this tredmil and its used for research in training. dont you think if this horse didn't want to run, it would just stand there? How many horses do you know if you just stuck it on the tredmil would start running? Plus if you're too blind to notice he's wearing leg protection and has a fuzzy front harness. Yeah, they must not care about him at all.

So for all you ignorant people, try doing a little research before you just jump to stupid conclusions.

  • would you rather have the horse run in a field, fall and break it's leg? They are trying to diagnose it with the lest likely chance of injury, not torture it.

  • looked at 0:12. the horse swashed its tail and gave a lovely buck. that's horse happiness.

  • how fast did that get to? hes so pretty!

  • Im a treadmill operator in Newzealand. Its a fact that Horse behaviour will always be a very subjective science. There will always be those who believe they have a better understanding of the Equine than their peers.

When the High Speed treadmill is thrown into the mix it is often just to much of a brain overload for a lot of people to process rationally. The result is that these confused people have no option but to attack. Its important to remember to not be discouaraged by them.

  • @newcomer9747 he did a lead change thats why
