  • I remember that night, I didnt sleep the rest of it! That train scared me so bad... I shook and cried until my parents finally woke up. Our house was right on the tracks. Trains are a phobia of mine, i think that train was one reason.

  • Whtxwlfxhealr , lol. Could had been.

  • And from the clianging of the drivers, going as fast as she was built to go!!!

  • They were going at 45 MPH. which is track speed through town.

    Len.

  • was 2102 on the point of the train cause it looks that way, i know when they left emaus 5308 was in the front.

  • I don't know if the T-1 was on the point, I didn't take the video, my friend Dave Trexler did. I'll ask him next time I speek to him.

  • Why did they run back so late? To avoid masses of foamers lining the tracks for a steam movement over Conrail? I was on that train, early Sept 1991 from Emmaus to Pennsburg. It was my second time behind 2102, my first time was from South Hamburg April, 1988 and the tender had no logo on it, just black, that might have been because they painted over the We the People Berks County celebrates Constitution Day that was painted in summer 1987, and in spring 1988 Blue Mountain & Reading was painted on

  • now that's a hooter.

  • Dear r&n, please put the 2102 back in service show amtrak how it's done. Thank you

  • @qlancer Reading T-1's were allowed 65 MPH in freight service, 79 in passenger service. I rode behind "D&H 302" at 79 MPH along the Lackawanna Cutoff back in '73.

  • Compare this with the video, "The Haunting of the 1218 N&W Class A Whistle Action." Just my own personal preference but if I was to put any hooter whistle on the 2102 it would be an N&W-type 12-incher like the 1218 has. It's a single-note, but it's a low-enough note that when you hear it you know it's a BIG locomotive coming. To me 2102 with the Reading freight whistle is like Hulk Hogan talking with a baby's voice. Again just my own two lousy pennies.

  • who needs an alarm clock all of you well then here is one big ass alarm clock.Hahaha but nice filming for filming in the dark

  • I didnt mean to put as fast, I meant fast in general. 2102 was not meant for the slow, pondering rides one can get at Strausburg or others. T1s were FAST freight locomotives

  • @qlancer I rode behind 2102 back in '73 at 79 MPH.

  • Would NS allow such a movement today with live steam? They killed their own steam program in Dec 1994.
