I picked up the guitar again after ~5 years off after hearing and seeing Andy McKee. This is a bad attempt at Shanghai from his album Art of Motion.

  • could i grab the tuning off ya? or better yet the tabs, either one would be great O_=

ye i saw a comment and i agree all the notes are there, just work on your flow and it will be good stuff

i know how you feel, but hopefully you can use not playing for 5yrs to fire you up

  • Tuning is EBDGBD. Tabs you buy at candyrat! ;)

  • Definitely a good effort! I agree with cheesy- you might want to rename your video because people are misconstruing the title as being cocky and I don't think that's what you intended for it to be. Keep it up with the guitar though!

  • Thanks to everyone for the good feedback. I didn't mean to be cocky at all, in fact the opposite, after watching covers by Elviolli I almost didn't post this!

I can't get the fingering (or the notes) on the tapping portion right, as I'm about 95% sure that Andy (and Elviolli for that matter) play something completely different than what is in Andy's tab's.

  • That's an EKO isnt it?

    nice job

  • Guitar? No, it's a Martin D28.

  • I was expecting much worse than this. So I give a thumb up!

  • close your mouth.

  • yeah...you did. thumbs up anyway.

  • the song is perfect, you just need to accelerate it

you buyed the tab by the official website????

I'm brazillian and this is pretty hard to do here

but you cover is a nice cover

  • not bad.. not the best, but pretty good for a a pick up after five years.

  • I thought it was pretty good, sounded right. If anything you just need fluency. :) good job!

  • @souper423 vvhat he means is he didnt play it as vvell as andy, not that he played it better. try to understand vvhat others mean before judging them

  • I agree on this comment. i am sure you have played this song over and over so you have it 'mastered.' Just make sure to add emotion to the song. Even if it means the timing is slightly off. I feel interpretation is sometimes better then perfection when playing other music
