Big hit, didn't appear to be illegal, in a preseason game between the Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks on Friday, September 24th, 2010 at the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Michigan.

  • @countrygentleman10 Don't forget that the level of skill Minnesota players have is far greater than any other state. On the last United States Olympic team there were ten players from Minnesota and only six players from Michigan. And the talent the ten Minnesota brought were leagues above the Michigan players. Also for the 2011 World Junior roster there are four Minnesotans and only two players from Michigan.Yes I would give Michigan 2nd behind Minnesota in talent but it will never surpass MN

  • @countrygentleman10 the ohl/chl is the world's premier junior league

  • @NHLArchive I'm not saying Michigan isn't close or anything, but Minnesota, without a doubt, is a bigger hockey state. True, we don't have OHL. We don't need that shit. We have the greatest high school hockey system in the nation. When 18,000 fill the Joe for high school, let me know. Michigan has 5 true D1 teams in CCHA. Minnesota has 5 teams in the WCHA. Again, smaller population=more impressive.

Really though, let's just agree Canada>Minnesota/Michigan.

  • @countrygentleman10 you are seriously underrating michigan, the number of players is within 2 or 3, and if each state fielded a team it would be a close game. Past doesn't matter at all. Michigan also has 2 OHL teams that Minnesota doesn't have, combined with their 6 or 7 division 1 ncaa teams (though the ohl teams are more prestigious) Plus 2 major pro teams, last time i checked MN only had one and for a decade none.

  • @NHLArchive Michigan can't compare for the "state of hockey" slogan.

Your claim for number of players in the NHL from Michigan and Minnesota holds no merit.

    A) looking on multiple sites, the number of former and current players in the NHL is greater for Minnesota than Michigan. Current AND former.

    B) Minnesota's population is just over half of what Michigan's is. When it comes down to it, that's the most telling stat. MORE players from a smaller pop. Suck it. Although, nice work on the vids

  • @NHLArchive

    point taken.

  • @Pika740 a preseason game between 2 AHL teams? nooooo wayyyyy it should sell out. except in Chicago and pittsburgh where hockey is more of a trend than a passion.

  • @Pika740 did the wild sellout their first preseaseon game? The economy in eastern michigan is piss poor right now in case you are unaware. To sell tickets you have to have people who can afford it. The same city sold out for about 15 straight seasons in the 90s and early 00s. Michigan remains neck in neck with minnesota as the state of hockey (especially when you look at how many nhl players come from michigan).

  • @Pika740 this is about as uneducated of a comment as you can make
