  • Is 460 gallons the water capacity of that tank? Or is it how much it actually holds with all of the corals, rock, etc. in there? Because it seems awfully large compared to 500-700 gallon tanks I've seen in the past. I guess there's an optical illusion of sorts because of the cylindrical shape.

  • hey 2, its a water volume estimate based on my calculation and the amount of saltmix it took to create a salinity of 1.021

  • Whats wrong with hardware bulbs just the fact it gives off the yellow like isn't that cause the kelvin rating is wrong? Like 3k most are at hardware stores sometimes you can get 6.5k Kevlin is what I use but costs more money obviously

  • hey D, back in the mid 80's we used Cool White bulbs. those Shop Bulbs are so yellow they are ugly. you need bulbs with a spike in the blue end of the spectrum.

  • hey jim, why dont you put a video of your very own best tank :P

I wouldnt be surprise what you got.

  • hey E, check out episode #53. thats my own tank.

  • hi jim ur amazing u have the best fish vids on youtube

  • hey G, i try not to use Undergravel or Canister filters, as I prefer a wet-dry trickle filter.

  • too bad that you don’t live in the san Francisco bay area because if you did I would love to hire you to set me up with a 200 gallon reef tank one and also help with maintenance.
