News Update: Israeli Soldier Receives Death Threats Over Controversial Facebook Photos

The former Israeli soldier who posted pictures on Facebook of herself posing with blindfolded Palestinian prisoners has received death threats over the images.

26-year-old Eden Aberjil said she posted the pictures on the social networking site to "remember the experience," BBC reports, and that the pictures were not meant to be a political statement of any sort.

An army spokesman said Aberjil's actions were "shameful behavior by a young soldier."

Captain Arye Shalicar told BBC World Service, "It's a compulsory army and part of the soldiers do not understand the seriousness of the situation they are in and the duty they are given in the [Israeli Defense Forces]."

The pictures have been removed from Facebook and Aberjil commented, "I find it astounding that there are so many people who want peace and I'm the one ruining it for them."
