These are some neat records that I found at Archie McPhee. They are original vintage 1962 souvenir post cards that doubled as promotional records from the Seattle Expo. Here I give a quick demonstration of how they worked.
As you can see the quality has gotten very bad over the years, plus the cardboard has warped. Still a very cool thing.

  • Your room is an alternate reality of mine. Instead of a expo 62 memorabilia, I have expo 67 things hanging on the wall, instead of a Commodore 64 I have a Timex Sinclair 2068, and I also have a Bell and Howell video camera from the 30s with that very useful dial on the side.

  • @DeLorean4 Haha, nice!

  • Those postcard records a very cool! Doesn't sound too bad at all!

  • @Vinylrecordsneverdie Ah, but you can hear that weird crackle that some records get after being around for a long while

  • @cobrachoppergirl eva tone soundsheets

  • awesome

  • Your computer system --- time for an upgrade. National Geographic put out these records much later as well, with whale sounds on them. I'm sure lots of other companies did them as well.

  • What's the name of the song and who's the artist?

  • Thanks for posting this. It's amazing how many songs were written for this fair.

  • @DeLorean4 Aha! I have an Atari 2600 as well.

  • That's great! They also used to have records on kids' cereal, too. Jackson5 on Sugar Crisp is on I remember

  • Informational magazines used to do this. A thin vinyl 'page' you could tear out and put on your turntable. Ususally a song or catchy jingle advertising a product or service.
